Recreational Aviation Centre complex (the former Snowy Mountains
Scheme airfield) is just a few minutes from the heart of
Cooma and 10 miles from Snowy Mountains Airport, close to
the ski fields and the High Country and about 30 minutes
flying time to the coast.
Polo Flat is fortunate in having community support and an
ideal environment for private flying - outside controlled
airspace, little traffic and good weather.

Snowy Aviation Academy operates at Polo Flat Airfield, using

new Recreational Aviation aircraft. Not only is the aircraft

Disabled Flying Centre |

In
March 2001 we established a unique flying centre
for people with disabilities at Polo Flat Airfield,
so that students and pilots can stay on site in
disability-friendly facilities, just metres from
their aircraft.
It was opened by Polly Vacher,
a British pilot who has worked for many years
to raise money for flying scholarships for disabled
student pilots.
